Colored Bishop

Bishop Goodsell, of the Methodist Episcopal church, returned from a se ven months' trip to China, Corea and Japan. At Foo Chow the annual conference was held and it was found that the Methodist mission had 4,500 members, forty native ministers and nine Americans. In Japan the bishop found Christiauity making more rapid progress than people are aware of. There are 4,000 communicants in protestant njissions and 250 were gained last year. He attributed riots in North China solely to political agitation.
