Why is it that in all of the ladieb' magazines, fashion plates, etc, the illustrations and costumes shown are for very slendes people whose figure reminds you of an Oscar Wilde appetite. The stout lady, to use one of the favored expressions of the day, "isn't in it," and yet the number will equal the number of their slender sisters, and they are just as much interested in their costumes as the others. Now this is entirely wrong and we wonder that there has not been war before this. You notice the fashon plates for men and yon will always notice an appropriate costume for the stout men illustrated as well as for others. We say, down with this monopoly. Give the
