Frogs For A Feast
Livingston county, besides being the home of several noted men, and the greatest beanraising county in the state, is rapidly developing a new industry, it being that of frog raising. A large green palatable frog abounds in the lakesand marshes of the county. He isworth from 50 to 75 cents a dozen in Chicago, and is considered cheap at that. A good frog catcher, who understands his business, can catch from eight to twelve dozen per day, and not overwork himself. Oneman atBrighton has recently shipped 200 dozen to Chicago, and others are also éngaged in the business.
