Samuel G. Benbam, the well known cigar manufacturer, met asudcien death on Tuesday last from apoplexy. He went to his place of business as usual in the morning and remarked, at the time, that he felt unusually well. About ten o'clock, however, he felt a queer eensation in his head and called one of the gentlemen below to his assistance. Medical help was at once summoned and Mr. Benham was taken to a bed in the floor below. lie was able to walk down the stairs almost without support. He grew rapidly worse and shortly before twelve o'clock paBsed away. Mr. Benham was sixty-two years of age and carne to Ann Arbor from Ithaca, N. Y., in 1865. He has resided here ever since, living % quiet, ïndustrious, useful life. Eight children, all of whom are now in the city, survhe him. They are Mrs. Gershen Powers, of Grand Rapids; Mrs. J. P. Parshall, of Wayne; H. C. Benham, of Ashtabula, Ohio; Mrs. W. W. Watts, Migues Florence, Hattie and Mabel Benham and Samuel L. Benham, of this city. The luneral took place at three o'clock yesterday afteruoon from tbe late residence of the deceased, Eev. J. M. Gelston officiating.
