Prof. Eiiiil Banr furnishes the followng report of the business done on S.ttïrday last by the Washtenaw Horticulural Society: President J. AustinScott's address was full of good humor and of good will toward the society, which he iad perved so fuithfully during the rear. The report by the recordir.gand coresponding secretarias and treasurer were adopted and accepttd. A vote of thunks was tendered to he officers of the society iu arknowedgement of their services during the year. The following officers were unanimously elected for the coming year: J. Austin Srott, president; Evart H. Scott, irst vice-president; J. J. Parshall, Wm. McCreery, vice-preaidentp; J. Ganzliorn, ecording secretary; E Baar, corresponding secretary; J. Allmand, treasurer. Executive committee, Wm. F. Bird.A. A. Crozier, J. C. Schenk, U.( Markham. Prof. J. B. Steere, office of Ornithology; Prof. M. W. Hnrrington Climatology; Prof. V. M. Spalding,' Botany; Prof. V. i' V u.-han, Hygienp; Mr. A. A. Crozier, Entomology. W. F. Bird gave a very interesting ac. count of the annui.l meeting of the S'.ite Horticultor I Society at Kut n Rtpids. Mr. Bird showëd 13 varieties f grapes at said meeting. Washtenaw was well represented by Messrs. Evart H. Scott, A. A. Crozier. The Colnmbian fair will outdo the Centennial and Puris fairs in the exhibits of pomology and horticulture. Che building for bat display will be 1,000x280 feet. Michigan devotes $100,000 for this exhibit. Every fruit grower is expected to asaist in thi? great exhibit without any remuneration. The banquet given by the citiaens of E:iton Rapids to the state society was a most happy and cheerful conclusión of this successfu! meeting. The Austin apple, exhibited at this meeting, was proQonnced the best for its season. I wiih to correct an error I made in my Novoml.er report. It was not Mi. Wilder, but Charles Dawring, the great pomolcgiet, who nauned this apple of which Hon. J. Austin S.ott is the originator. At the January meeting of the Washtenaw Horticultural Society, the topics will be:"Nut Culture," by Mr. Ganzhorn, a n;w and importar t to. .v,'hich never has been discusstd here before ; also the entertainment of the next annual meeting by the eit'zens of Ann Arbor and by this society, by A.
