It was a spontancous and geuerous aprising of the citizens of the metropolis to the assistanee of the youuper city of the lakes, i warm assuranee of the frleodliest feeling and arecognition of the national charaeter of the exposition. Letters of rejjret were received from ex-lresident Cleveland, Vice President Morton, ex-Mayor Ilewitt. Senator Daniels, of Virginia, and Richard Croker. VVilburg, president of the Lebeigh Valley ruilroad; Evnn Thomas, president of the produce exchne; Hon. Warner Miiler, Charles S. Smitli, president of the ohamber of comin .il Horace Povter, Gec-fte M. Pullman, Frank Thomson, of the Pennsylvania railroad, aud George B. Roberts, of the PennsylTanla railroad.
