Bibmixoham, Ala., Dec. 19. - The convention of the American Federation of Labor yesterday adopted a resolution favoring a woman's suifnige amendment to the constitution and refused to adopt a resolution recommending- political action on the part ol trades unions. Samuel Gompers was reelecti-.l president; P. J. McGnire, of Pennsylvania, flrst vice president; W. A. Carney, of I'ittsburgh, seeoud vice president: Chris Evaas, of New York, secretary. and John B. I.annon, of New York, treasurer. BotMlROHAH, Ala., Dec. 21. - The Federatiou of Labor adjourned Saturday. They refused to allow James Hughes, of the New York Knights of Labor, to give his grievances against the United Garment Workcrs of that city, but they adopted a series of resolutions providing a basis of agreement by whieL harmony will be restored between the Knighlb of Labor and the federation. It was decid ed to renew the struggle ior the eight-hour working day during the comiuff year and tho executive oouncil will select the organization that will make the test. Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Denver and Hot Springi were nauied for the next annual convention, and Philadalpbia was ehosen.
