Mr. Enloe (Tenn. ) oftVveil a, resolutioii for the appointment oí a npecial committee of five member-, to inquire into the charges made ag-ainst the commissiuiier if pensions and the adminlstration of his office. This was referred to the committee on rules. Mr. Chipman (Mio.h. ) announced the death of his colleague, Jlelbourne H. Ford, and in respect to the memory of the deceased the house adjourned until Wednesday with the umlerstandinff that on that day uo business be transacted exeept that referring to the recess resolution, and to the announcement of committeea by the speaker.
