Louisville, Ky., Jan. 31. - The ice gorge at Twelve Mile island above the city broke at 3 o'olock Monday af noon and has swept away fully 350,000 vvorth of property. The ice began j ning in front of the city about 3 o'clock ' but no damage was done until niht, when seventy-five coal barges, mostly empties, were swept away from their moorings. The barges were carried over the f alls and many were smashed to splinters on the piers of the Pennsyivania railroad bridge.
