Davenpokt, Ia., Jan. 31.- The death of Louis Franklin and Charles C. Rapp, two well-known citizens, by asphyxiation, the narrow escape of four others atid an explosión in the store of Mrs. Phil Daum have f ailed of a satisf actory explanation. Whether the cause was iüuminating gas, sewer gas or coal g-as is uüknown. There was a strong smell of illuminating ga3 in the building, and as there were no gas pipes on the second floor it is held that a leaky main must have done the work.
