jx Oonnecticut peach grower of long íxperienee, is quoted by Garden and ?orest, giving the following hints to ?each growers: Peaches sliould be fed with chemieal iertilizers only. We apply every year 11 we can afford; that is, about 1,200 sounds of bone and from 400 to 800 pounds of potash to the acre. Too much 's better than not enough. Sulphate ot potash gives the best color to peachis, but cotton huil ashes ia perhaps a Uer fortn of potash. M% shorten in the new wood from ane-xhird' a oa-half in the spring. hen the buds begin to swell. We can get a good peach erop with 9Qper cent. of the buds winter-killed. AftBr the 'fruit is set for a full erop, e thin until there are two peaches within. four to six inohes of each other. Th8 : a eo8ty treatment, but it pays. Tbe extras sell or six times as much ■per peach as the eecoiuls do, and they do not exh&ust the tree as much. The finest fruit this year came from :4-year-old-trees. Sm elevated plain is not as good for a Pftaoh orchard as a hillside with a sharp tieetin. ThO fruit should fully mature, but aot mellöw, when it is picked. Pickers are trained to teil ripeness by color. Ptfaeh orchards should notbe cultivated'after the middie of July.
