Exaniinations have begun of the c;ndidates for higlier degrees and lor graduates on the Univerciiy systern There are twenty-seven such candidates, eight of whom are ladies. No outsider is adniitted to the examiiintions bat the reading and defense of tiie theses are public, and often very interesting. E. H.
