ON THB FIRST BALLOT. Cixcinnati, Aug. 11.- The Ohio democratie state eon-vention nominated Lawrence T. Neal for jovernor on the first ballot. Col. W. A. Taylor, of Columbus, was nominated for lieutenant governor by acclamation. John W. Sater, of Darke, was nominated for suprerae judge. B. C. Blackburn, of Coshocton, was nominated for state treasurer and John P. Bailey, of Putnam connty, for attorney general, both by acclatnation. State Chairman Crites called the convention to order in Music hall at 9:30 a. m. He introduced üilbert H. Barbar as temporary chairman, and he was afterwards made permanent chairman. After the report of the committee on credentials had been received, the committee on resolutions presented its report. The platform as presented by the committee was unanimously adopted. A synopsis is as follows: THE PLATFORM. It approves the Chicago platform, especially its reference to tarifl and currency legislation; indorses the president's message and designates the financlal sttuation as the ''unfortunate legacy of republicanadministration," declaringlt the resultof McKInleyism, Sherman law and party extravaprance. It recommends that national bank ourrency Issue In amounts equaling the par value of bonds and demanda the pension roll be constituted a roll of honor but protests aRainst abuse of the pension laws. Gov. McKinley's administraron is liondemned. as is the expenditure of SfiOO.OOO by the Seventeenth general nssembly of the state. Couñdence in Senator Brice is forcibly expressed and the document, which ontirely ignores sil ver, closes as follows: ■1 he country has abiding faith in the lntegrity. patriotism and exalted courage of Presi di'nt Cleveland. True to the people and watchful to their interesta, he will enforce honest and ftconomical methoda in conduct of public aflairs and secure to every section of the country the blessing of good governmenl."
