Super Smash and Mario Kart Tournament Extravaganza!

The 2007 Super Smash Double Dash Championship season returns to the downtown library this weekend with a Smash & Dash filled couple of days for players of all ages! It all begins with a Super Smash Bros. Melee Regulation Throwdown for ages 13+, this Friday, 9/28, from 6:00 - 8:45 PM. With no items, only neutral stages, and a focus on 1v1, this is your chance to put your skills to a pure test of mettle. See here for our regulation-style ruleset. We'll then continue with Round 2 of the Championship Season for grades 6-12 on Saturday, 9/29, from Noon - 5 PM. Can Clan US continue their smash dominance? Can the Brothers of Maplewood win another mystery clan battle? Come downtown and find out! Then, we'll wrap up the weekend with a Mario Kart Tournament for grades 5 and under, Sunday, 9/30, from 1:00 - 4:00 PM.

Also, there will be a separate post about this one, but you guys may be interested in this talk on Sunday 10/7 by game developer Greg Trefry, especially if you're interested in a game-based career. Greg is a seriously cool guy and has done some really amazing projects... you should check it out.

Meh, I go because it's fun. I'm going to the Regulation game. I know I'll lose, so what? Also, I have new players and a new clan, Eli, is it possible for you to take me out of We only come for books? Sorry, guys. It's my last year here, and I might as well make it a fun one with my friends. Also Eli, would I be able to send you a picture and you could overwrite "gtlogo:RED" to that one? Or do I need to have a different three letter logo?
Also, to offset the dead silence we often have for commentating, I might bring Kevin S. to fill that space. He has no idea what goes on in the game, but he is hilarious and he'll make stuff up. Trust me, he'll be a good commentator.

omega-now lain i think you need to take a step back. As of right now me and shin are better then you. The last time we played i beat you not once but twice in the tourney. Also don't forget that shin beat you in that money match. You may have inproved but so have i but who's to say. The funny thing is you have alot more experience then me yet..... Those were just my gut predictions for what is going to happen Friday night, it doesn't mean who is better than who, I just think that's how things are going to turn out. I could be completely wrong, but those are just my bets.

I won't be able to come to any of the tournaments this weekend, my mother is piling PSAT review stuff on me, and it hurts. =(

eh. i was beating them constantly in friendlies. and they try in friendlies. so yeah. *shrugs*

good stuff though omega and shin.

The tourney was good stuff. It was cool playing everyone. Hopefully I get back up to one of these soon.

Blood Hawk and I felt dumb. We were going to try to hang w/ you after the tournament before we went back to South Bend, and totally forgot :/ Oh well. Hit me up on AIM sometime (Izmo my Nizmo) and if we're up there again for whatever tourney, we'll look you up.

Consoles have an advantage over PC games because the set up is much easier. Usually there is no configuration of IP’s, servers, etc. Also, if you do PC games, especially MMORPGs, you are not adding any social dimension to the game. Those games are social.
