New Yokk, March 81. - in lts review of the state of trade Bradstreet's says: "The features of the business week include evidenc.es of Increasing volumes of trade at eastern cities, whtch are offset by checks to the movement of staple merchandlae at other centers owlng to stormB and cold weather and by damage to crops caused by tbe unusually low temperature northwest and soulh. All westeru cities note the unfavorable influence of recent cold weather. There is a smaller volume of trade In most Unes at Chicago, the exception belng among dealers in pig iron, where the demand exceeds expectations. A similar report is made by St Louis dealers In crude iron and by jobbers In dry gooda, millinery, hats, hardware and shoes. "Kansas City fruit and produce men are said to be dlscouraged at repons of ldiling frosts. At Omaha business Is less active than a week ago, althouKh buyers In mr.ny instances are disposed to make larger purchases. At Mllwaukee, St Paul. Minneapolis and Duluth the feature in trace clrcles Has oeen the temporary check to business due to unseasonable cold weather. " "Fallures for the week nuniber 238 in the United States, againsl 106 last yoar, and 80 in Canada, against 28 last year. The liabilities for tnree weeks f Maren tbus far reported have been Í10, 001.691, of whlcn ïi,69S. 118 were of manufacturing and M,233,082 of trading concerns. The returns so far indícate a smaller aggregate for Marca than ior February. "
