All the carpentcrs and millhands in Cincinnati.C'ovington andNewport have been ordered on a strike by a mass meeting attended by over 1,000 men. Only forty votes opposed the strike. It is ordered because the boss carpenters have refused to agree to pay $2.50 for eight hours or $3 for nine hours, with an hour less on Saturdays. Nearly 5,000 men are affected. AĆter a financial settlement with lll creditors, the Brooklyn Tabernacle people will realize $30,000 from the insuTance money.
