Card parties are in order. Miss L. Clark is on the sick list. Mrs. 8. Egner is quite ill this week. Mrs. Mell Barm-s and son are both on the sick list. Miss Cady had an enjoyable time at Benton Harbor. Miss Orrie Clark % Detroit guests liave returned home. A warm wave has struck Milán and the snow has vanished. Miss Lealie Kelley entertained the M. C. a few evenings ago. The M. E. society are observing the week of prayer this week. The liaptists are holding the week of prayer attheir church this week. Miss May Bell was the victum of a surprise party Saturday evening. Skating is line on the Saline and is greatly enjoyed by both oldand young. Mr 11 Appleton. of Detroit, is the guest of' Iris cousin Miss Alma Sill this week. Mr. and Mrs. .!. Campbell are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Guy this week. Mr and Mrs. C. M. Fuller, of Maco n, wert the guests of Atty. and Mrs. O. 1 1?. Williams Satimlay. Hitchcock and son, are going to try to keep the Müan people cool with 1000 tons of ice this coming summer. The Baptist ladies held their tea social at Mts. 3. O. Rouse's residence on County st. on Wednesday afternoon. The Free Methodists are holding evening meetings evefy evening also Cottage prayer meetings every afternoon. Milán expects to celébrate the event of events this evening, when they dedicate the I. O. O. F. Temple. The encampment and the D.of R. are puting forth every effort to make it a üuccess in every way. The committee are well appointed. The program will be tine. Private interests of the masses were notsacriticed tor the selflfh benefit of a ruler. Cromwell was not arabitious lor power, but for the good of England. SALEM TOWN. Rev. Benton is holding revival meetings at Leeland church. There will be an oyster supper Friday evening at Isaac Savery's for the benefit of the Laphams Sabbath School. The people of the Congregational church at the village will give a donation at the pai-sonage Friday evening for the benefit of the pastor, Rev. Shannon. Johnnie Giegler, the twelve year old son of Adolphus Giegler, died Jan. lst. He was pushed from the schoolhouse steps by one of his schoolmates a little over a week befcre his death and ceived injuries of the spine whicn were immediately followed by paralysis. Mr. and Mrs. Giegler have the sympathy of the whole eommunity in their sad bereavement. Kev. C'onrad conducted the funeral services at the Baptist church Thursday morning. ■ i i ui 'iu,i. . Mrs. Turners father, (Mr. Stevens), of Dexter, visited her last week. The school has been postponed one week on account of the teacher being ill. Mrs. Gakleand children.of Ann Arbor, spent New Years with Mr.Strehle's family. Mrs. James Davls returned last Saturday night after staying a week with her daughter in Ann Arbor. Mrs. Slimmer and chillen went to Lansing and spent New Yearswith her sister. Mr. Slimmer couldn't get 'relief' or he would have gone too. KÏIERY. Robinson and Galligan havo gone to Hamburg with their engine to work for the ioe company. The K. O. T. M. dance New Year's eve was quite a success. Abcut 60 tickets were sold. A.n evangelist commenced revival meetings at this place last Wednesday night. Therehas been a very smalt attendance thus far.
