"New .111,1 i (o Ilute," Appreciating the liberal patronage extended to u the past two years. and reahzing the importance of inoreased passender and freight eapacity, the Cleveland and Bufïalo Transit Company has contracted for a mammouth side wheel, steel steamer of the highest grade, containing every known requirement and device for strength and safety, to be completed and ready for service at the opening of naviation, 1896. The steamer wil!, in size, peed and elegance, by far Bnrpaaa any steamer of her elass ever constructed for lake vice. in fact, she can justly be tertned ■'the leviathan of the great lakes.'" The huil wiü be constructed of open hearth steel of the best character known for ship building; a test being made from eacn p'ate separately under the most improved methods of inspeetion. Steel will be used in eonstruction to the greatest practical extent. Her engines will be of the compound beam type, with a low pressure cylinder, 80 inches in diameter, and strokb of 12 feet; with Sickles Valve Geer which will cut off at any point of the stroke, while the engine is in motion. The saloon will oontain an upper and lower tier of 160 commodious state rooms, parlora with bath rooms, lavatorios, etc. In addition there wiil be a numbar of sinyle berths in the forward part of the ship. which will greatly augment the sieeping capacity, being thus able to take care of some (00 people in berths. The dining: room below the main deck, will be finished iu hard wood and decorated in high art and will be reaehed by a magnificent stairway from the Social Hall. The Electric Lifffct plant will be of the most improved character with a capacity of 1"jO!J lampa, together with a search light of immense power. Great care will be taken in the illuminating features of the snip. and itis safu to say. that she will favorably compare with any lirst class hotel inthis respect. Por comparison, only the famous side wheelers of the Fall RIver line can be cited.
