The reply oí the Porte, of Tui-key, to the deinand of the powers for reforms in Armenia is conciliatory and on many points agrees with the powers' demanda. lt propones to appoint Christian assessors to assist the Turkish provincial g-overninent and to admit a proportion of Christians among the minor officials, pólice and gendarmes, and also promises to restrain thii. Kurds from violence. As it also declares that some of the powers' demands ai-e unacceptable, or impossible of execution, it is probable that the powers will not be "satisfled with the reply. The Ang-lo-Armenian association's advices from Constantinople says that Dord Salisbury has demanded the unconditional and immediate release of all Armenian political prisoners not eonvicted by a legfally constituted tribunal.
