Mr. and Mrs. Joslyn, were guests of Mr. Phelps this week. Mrs. McFarland and daughter spent a fflw days with Mr. Sear's folks. Mr. and Miss. King of Muskegon, were visiting friends here recently. The Webster Methodist church, holds an ice cream social at Mr. C. M. Starks, Thursday evening Aug. 22. The Webster Congregational S. S. held a picnic at East Portage last Saturday. Dinner was givenat noon, after whieh toasts were responded to. In the afternoon races were witnessed. MANCHESTER School begins two weeks from M onday. Mr. Peck returned to Kalamazoo last Fiiday. The Baptist S. S. picnic at Wamplers Lake today. Mrs. Roberts, of Jackson, is spending a short time with ner aausmer iraJames Tracy. Milo T. Carpentor expects to move tiis family and belonging tos their new borne northwestof Jackson. Mrs. James Wier passed qnietly to the haven of rest last Friday. The remains were intered last Suiiday. lïev. J. E. Platte offieiating. The Sharon Athletic Ball Team met the Freedom Sluggers on their diamond last Saturday afternoon. At the close of the Tth the Sluggers withdrew leaving the game 9 to 0 in favor of the Athletes. Louis Wolft' met with a bad accident last Thursday while at the Lake. One of his matched team kicked over the stall and caused a bad rupture. Dr. Waldron, of Tecumseh, was called and soon pronounced the horse in a good condition. DELHI MILLS. Work has begun on the M. C. B. K' Co's ware house. Mrs. Slimmer and chilares were in Detroit a few days last week. Mrs. J. Huddy entertained company from Ann Arbor, last Sunday. Mi-, and Mrs. .lames Da vis have gone to Meadville, Pa. to attend the funeral of a neice. Mr. J. Turner moved his .furniture last week into one of the Kyer Milling Co's housrs M rs. Henry Davis returned from Ypsilanti last Saturday. after an absence of three weeks. There seems to be more water in the river again. they can run the MUI most of the day now. Mr. and Mrs. "Walter Roost, of Ann Arbor, have been stopping a few days with Mrs. Neleon Marsh. Miss. Carrie Burchfleld, of Ann Arbor, has been the guest of Miss. Rosa Marsh for several dayá. There will be [ireaehing at the school house again next Sunday P. M. at three oclock, by Mr. Blomtield, of Dexter. Mrs. Jonas Marsh was buried in Dexter last Friday. The funeral service was held at the house. There are eleven children living, six sons and five daughters. The sons acted as pallbearers at the request of tlieir mother. WILLIS. Mrs. Wallace Van Worner visited at James Buntons last Sunday. One of Joseph Brenings horses died very euddenly !ast Friday morning. Wm. Dansingburg,county clerk, was at his old home last Friday and Saturday. A party of young people from this place were in Camp at Lake Erie last week. Mis. Cordery, of Detroit, visited with her Father, Mr. James Dugan last week. Mrs. Augusta Pratt has been spending a couple of weeks amongst friends in Monroe county. Mr. Smith ïaborand family started for Chicago last Saturday night. where they will make their future home. ïhere was a birthday party at Mr. and Mrs. GeorgeRussell'slast Saturday, it being the 12th anniversary of Master J. Karl Russell. Mrs. ('ulbertson, of Pittsburg, Mrs. Snodgrass, of Detroit, and Mrs. Laura Adair, of ïlomuless, visited W. H. Willings last week. The Basket Picnic givenin Wortley 's grove, Ypsilanti town, last week was well attended and a very pleasent time enjoyed by all that went. The Catnolic Picnic, held in Reynold's grove at Whittakerlast Thursday was a great success, both socially and financially. They cleared $57, At the annual meeting of tho Ladies Aid Society of the Willis M. E Church held in their Hall last YVednesday, the following Ofiicers were elected for the ensuing year : Pres. Mrs. Albert Day, Sr. ; Vice-Pres. Mrs. Kate Sherman : Secty. Mrs. Mary U. Russell; Treas. Miss. Ella Warner. The Farmers Annual Basket Picnic, will be held in Wm. Thorn,s grove one quarter milo west and half mile north of Willis Pv. R. Station Tuesday, August the 2Tth. There will be good music and it is expected that Capt. E. P. Allen and Rev. ïather Kennedy, of Ypsilanti, and Mr. John McDougal, of Superior, and John K. Campbell, of Augusta, will make short speeches. A general invitation is extended to all to come. Fetch your baskets well fflled and have a good social time. Exercises to commence at 10 oclock A. M. OTILAN Milán is billed for some new Are lights. Mrs. G. R. Williams class in Delsarte are doing fine work. Miss. Cecil has returned from a five weeks visit at Union City. Mrs. E. Ostrander and three children of Willis are the guests of Mrs. S, Hack. Mr. and Mrs. Torn Barnes and son have returned from their Quincy visit. Mrs. S. T. Blackmere and son have returned from their Corrunna visit. Mrs. Chas. Gauntlett attended the Universalist social at Lake Ridge Friday. A large number of the Milanites attended H. O. Wills grove meeting at Dundee Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Watts, of Ann Arbor were the guests of W. H. Whitmarsh over Sunday. Prof. and Mrs. O. M. Fuller are moving to Moorville so to be ready for school the flrst week in September. Mr. and Mrs. Gray and Miss. Lera Dexter of Ypsitanti, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Hack Saturday and Sunday. (Crowdecl out last week. ) Atty. G. R. Williams is on the sick list. Miss. Flossie Chapin leaves the last of the week for Owosso. Mrs. W. H. Whitmarsh is entertaining guests from Williamston. Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Fuller left Sunday for their home on the Macon. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Guy and son left Tuesday P. M. for an outing in the north. Rev. Mr. Mekuen of Chicago, is the guest of Rev. J. Ward Stone and family. Mr. and Mrs. S. Egner and Minnie and Clifford Mead, are visiting at Strawberry Lake. Mrs. O. f. Xewcomb and son left for Carlton Monday morning, where she will visit friends a few weeks. Wodnesday afternoon and evening the Baptist Ladies will Indulge in a Lawn Fete at Mrs. Blakesle's residence on Main StMr. and Mrs. Frank Stevens left Tuesday morning for a drive through to Ohio where they will visit friends for a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. .T. Royal, were pleasently surprised Thursday evening by a few friends who carne to celébrate the tirst anniversary of their marriage.
