American Missmnnries .Slaughtered. Dispatches from Foo Chow, China, say: A mob has looted the Americat Zion chapel at Inghok, 50 miles fron here. Unless prompt action is taker there is danger of great riots in othei places. The Chinese soldiers sent te protect foreig-n property plundered the Stewart residence and the general sit uation is critical. There is no American protectioo and that governmenfi neglect is infamous. Hong Kong: The British and American missions at Fat Shan, near Cantón, vvere attacked by a large mob and the hospitals were demolished. The mis sionaries fled for their lives. It tl rumored that other missions will be destroyed. London: Archdeacon Wolfe cablee trom Foo Chow saying that the Chinesa soldiers sent to protect the mission at Ku Cheng broke into and plundered it. He adds that no reliance can be placed upon the Chinese authorities. It is known that the authorities knew oi the intention of the so-called vegetarians to destroy the missions and kill Christians, but they did nothing te prevent the massacres, and did eveD warn the Christians. More Missioiiaries May be Massacred. Dispatches irom Fu Chow and Hong Kong says that the situation of European and American missionaries is critical ovving to the open hostilities of the natives and native officials. II an outbreak occurs, the native officials will be unable to cope with the mob. 1 -'u-Kien province is said to be in a state of rebellion and the mission oi Fung-Fuk. in that province, has been burned. The missiqnaries have telegraphed for gunboáts to protect the foreig-n settlement. The massacre at Ku was carried out in the most diabolical manuer and it was evidently a premeditated and carefully arranged attack, entirely unprovoked, made upon the occupants of the missionary station while they were asleep. There are rumors of f urther riots at places nearer to Fu Chow then Ku Cheng. This district includes the stations of the Church of England at Zenana, the American Methodists' stations at Fukliien, Fuhning. Layong, Ningtaik, and Huignwa. More News r the Murders. Foo Chow.
