C .e e jening last November Shepaerd'a Bush was visited by a dense fog, .■naking it extremely awkward for peiáns crossing the road opposite Jxbridge Road Station, where cabs and buses are continually passing to and 'to. So bad was the fog that it was alnopt impossible to see more than a foot jr so in front of one, says Pearson's iVèokly. A gentleman going home from thf city, and just coming out of the station, thought it would be safer to ;ross the road first; then, once over, ie would have the assistance of the .ights from the shops. He got acros3 ;he road safely, as he thoughtand ran jp against a shop window. Being an ild resident, he was well acquainted A-ith all the shops, but on looking hrough the window, this one puzzled ïim considerably. He observed several ersons inside, most of them reading ïewspaperf, sitting in rows and faclng ;ach other. All at once, however, while ie was racking his brain as to what lind of shop it was, the shop and peo)le glided almost noiselessly away be'ore his eyes, leaving him in the dark igain! It turned out it was a tramcar .hat he had run up against, standing n the middle of the road, and it a1.nost cut his toes off.
