The last legislatura passed a law requiring all who wish to enter the profession of law in Michigan to go beiore a commission especially appointed for that purpose and pass an examination. The law went into effect, last Thursday. The commission appointed by Governor Rich consista of George H. Durand, of Flint: Prof. Mechem, Ann Arbor; Phillip T. Van Zile, of Detroit: Russell C. Ostrander, of Lansing, and Mark Norria, of Grand Rapids. The commission will meet in a few weeks in Detroit to organize, and to formúlate rules. The first examination of candidates for admission to the bar will probably be held in Lansing, Oct. 17. The law makes a special provisión for graduates of the Universityof Michigan providing that graduates from the University law school shall be admitted to practice upon presentation of their certificates. Other aspirante for admission, must go before the commission for examination. One of the rules eontemplated will require candidatos to pasa ;tn examination equivalent to a high school examination, in the ordinary branches of study.
