Americans who go to Italy to be educated in music have a great advantage - if they master the Italian language ind study its melodies. Otherwise they have none. The whole secret of the musical nature of the Italian people lies in the musical nature of the Italian language. No one eau speak it habitually without becoming unconsciously educated in the laws of melody which underlie all music.
