One of the most wonderful of the many feats performed by Hindoo jugglers is the egg dance. Usually it ia sxecuted by a girl, fantastically dressed. She makes use of the willow wheel, around which at equal distances, are t.hreads, and at the end of each thread there is a noose, held open by a bead, This wheel the girl places on her head. while she carries a basket of eggs i on her arra. 'When the music strikos up she begins to dajico and the wheel begins to sp'n around. S;ie then takes an egg f rom the basket, places it in onc Df the thread nooses, and throws it trom her wilh sufficient force to draw the knot tight. The epinning of the tvheel keeps the thre;d stretched, with Ihe egg at tbe f ml oí it. She then tako? inother egg irom the basket, places it in another noor, and repeats this until there is an egg in every noose. Her fantastic costume, her perfect motion, and ali the eggs swinging on the stretched thraada at orce, pre?ent a VPJl prptty sight indeed. It requires much art to execute the dance, for at Dne false step the eggs #ould be dashed together, the dance spoi'cd, and the dancer thereby disgraced. After Mng for a time with all the eggs swinging around her heari, sVe tnkes thrm aut of the noo.?e one by oc, ail the time keeping the wheel balancee! and in motion, and again places them in the basket on her arm. When the dance is finished the spectators are allowed to exaine the eggs to see that they are real.
