A humorous scène was eaacted in the superior court room at Jackson, Ga., recently. A negro had been charged ft'ith burglarizing a store. Colonel Watkins defended hira, and was about to jpen the case with a well-prepared oration of his innocence, when the negro íuietly informed the colonel that he d.esired to plead guilty. Jiidge Beek aceordingly read the law in the case, and senteneed the negro for ten years. Dumfounded at this long sentence, the negro rolled his eyes round and beckoned Colonel Watkins to come forward, and when the lawyer reached his side, the negro gently whispered: "Say, Mr. Watkins, kain't yer 'peal fer a new trial?"
