All sorts of i'umors have been floating about during the past two weeks con. cerning the attendance at the University thisyear.lt was genei-ally supposed that the enrollment would show a great ffllling off. The official figures gi ven out Monday nisrht by Sec. Wade puts a ■verv decided quietus upon all such reports, It in dow beyond all question Üiat the attendance this year will be the largest in the history of the institution. At this date last year the enrollment was only 2548. This year it is 2708, showing a net gain of 160. After a eorresponding dato last year there were 349 who enrolled. This is about the usual number to enroll aft.er this time of year. If a similar number enters this year as is almosticertain to be the caso, the enrollment this year wil1 be f ully 3050. The literary department has shown the least gain. We give below the numbers so íar enrolled in the various departments. Líterary 1119 Kngineering 35 Medical , 401 Law 60" Dental 175 Pharmacy Hornoeopathy 25 Total 2708 The Homueopathic school, which is under an entirely new management, vvith a new faoulty and a new committee on the Boai-d of Regenta to manage the'department, is showingsigns of being able to get out of the woods. It shows the largeat percentage of increase of any of the departments, the percent of increase over the attendance last year being G2 per cent.
