Chicago, Oct. 22.- The feature of the last day of the Y. M. C. A. convention, whieh eiosed at Evanston yesterday, was the announcement that William Deering, the wealthy Evanston philan;hropist, had pledged himself for a gift jf $15,000 toward a building for the asjociation at Evanston. The convention just closed has been the largest in the aistory of the state association, 510 deligates having been registered. The largest attendance at any previous jonvention was 325, which was the number registered at Springfield last vear. The convention closed last evenIng at 9:30 o'clock with a farewell meeting.
