C. Liddell returned from St. Louis ast week. Ed. Wolfel spent Sunday with friends n Detroit. Mrg. Fred. Tinker is visiting her parents in Jackson. John Goodspeed returned to Grand apids Monday. S. W. Clarkson was in Lansing last Thursday on business. Aid. H. G. Prettyman was in Ohio ast Friday on business. Editor Thompson of the Dexter Leadr, was in the city Monday. Otto Krause, of Grand Rapids, was n the city a few days this week. Mrs. H. P. Browning and daughter, f Howell, are visiting in the city. Miss Phoebe Howell, who is teaching at Milford, spent Suaday in the city. Dr. B. B. Sudworth went to Petoskey last Saturday on real estáte business. Hon. D. A. Hammond spent Sunday with his family and left again Monday. Prof. B. A. Hinsdale spoke at an institute held at Charlotte, last Thursday. Mrs. Herman Easton has gone to Dexter to spend a month with hor father. Mrs. M. C. Peterson and Mrs. L. H. Clement were in Detroit a few days last week. Chas. Patrie was callea to Jackson last week to attend the funeral of his inother. Mr. and Mrs. Krapf spent Thursday and Friday of last week visiting in ,1 a :kson. Dr. W. B. Smith entertained hi3 brother-in-law, J. Q. Wilson, of Sturgis, last week. James Duffy, who has been practieing law in Bay City, has decixled to remove to Detroit. H. B. Merritt, of Pontiac, has taken charge of Goodspeed's shoe department as manager. B. St. James was in Detroit last Friday looking after new goods for his new dry gooda store. Jaoob Gall, of Kansas, is bere on a .vitli his brother of N. Fitth-ave., who has been very ill. Dr. Geo. E. Frothingham was up from Detroit last Friday looking aftor hia business interests here. Mr. and Mre. Richard Kcarns, of Detroit, spent Sunday in the city, the guests of Mr. Kearn's father. Wm. Campbell, of Pittsfield, has been drawn as a juror for the November berm Of the U. S. circuit court to be held in Detroit. Frank Howard, of Detroit, was in the city last week. He thinks that the Ann Arbor and Detroit Electric railway is s;ire to be a go. Mrs. S. A.. Moran and children returned last Priday from Niles, where they have been spending the sumtner vvitli Mrs. Moran's mot her. Miss May O'Hearn has succeeded Miss West as a teacher in the Fifth ward school. Miss West having been given a position in the First ward school. S. A. Moran was at Marshall Tuesday attending the of his brother, Dr. Geo.W. Moran, of Detroit, to Miss Minnie Hasbrouck, of Marshall. Evart H. Soott went to Chicago Monday night to attend the meeting of the National Associatlon of Manufacturers of Agricultural Implements. He returned Wednesday. Rev. M. A. Breed, lit '81, is visiting his father on E. Annst. He has recently resigned the position of president 'of Benzouia College, and accepted a cali as pastor of the first Congregational church at Westboro, Mass.
