It Is s:iid that when mixed with water it forms a plastic, stieky mass, whieh, wberi dried, becomes ürm and resisting. while its volume does noi change when exposoü to the flre; furtber, raelted metals and acorte do uot ding to it, and so apyiite hus bof n found useful for liniDg furnuces. In the ntlghborhood of mines Lpyrite tempu-e,! with water I uaed InsWad of limo water and also for plastering. it haa la sema plasc3 iupwsfeded Qre-brtck lining, as in the af vttrJous fuinacts. The capola of a large foundry can be thus lined in a day by two men and it is said that suoh a lining lasts longer than one of the same material made up into bricks. The substance has been proved useful tpr repairs to the firework lining of turnaees.-
