Th Ndl Work Gaild is now aetivelj engaged collectingr garments for the annual distribution on the 12th of November. Enthusiasm in thework seems unabated, and such a largf aumber of volüntary offerings is made as to show the esteem in whiuli the worlc is held by the peoale. 1,100 new garmeuts were donated last year, and fiven out to our own poor accoiding to the best judgment of the offlceis of the Guild. The giving of substantial, new ments appeate to the good sense of everyone and enables the Guild to mako warm and comfortable many a shi vering boy or girl- and the thoughtulness of our merchants in donating shop-worn cloaks and jackets has been of reat assistance in clothing school childrencomfortably. I desire to asture the kind people who contribute to thii store of garments, that the greateit care is taken in distributing them. In the flrst place beggars, who come to the door, are never given clothing unlf9S they are vouched for by iome responible person, and their wants tpecifled. Poor familie are Tisited, needg discoTered and tutnts fitted at far as possible. Tbis take time, but it is the only way to alife the full Talue of uch a collection, and the work is done cheerfully. The register, containing names of families and individuals assisted by the Guild can be examined at aDy time by anyone who desires to do so. It has been a great pleasure to unfortunate families, who found themselvc in want through sickness or lack of work, and were thus tided over a hard winter and made to realize what a good and cheering thing is brotherly kindness. It ia a beautiful charity and it is hoped that many who have never given before will be prompted to give two new garments this year and so increase the membership and usefulness of the Guild.
