Steubenville, Ohio, Oct. 21.- The trip this morning of Candidate William J. Bryan through the Ohio Valley district was punctuated here and ihere with cheers for his opponent. There were flve stops before this place was reached, and at three of them the candidate addressed the crowds from the rear of the car. There was a good crowd at Bellaire. Mr. Bryan addrossed them for fifteen minutes. At Bridgeport, the of the yellow badges were numerous, but the shouters for the triple no-minee were strong enougli to drown the cheers for the republican candidate. Mr. Bryan spoke to thfc crowd of some hundreds for three minutes. Martin's Ferry turned out a crowd which was largely hostile to the views of the candidate. There were stops at Yorkville and Brilliant, and at those places Mr. Bryan simply appeared on the platform and acknowledgefl the receptiQns given him. Want WatBon on the Ticket. Topewa, Kan., Oct. 21.- The name oí Thomas E. Watson as democratie-populist candidate for vice-president hac aeen nominally removed from the Kansas ticket of that party, in deference .o the wishes of the Georgia nominee, tvhose letter .of withdrawal has been received by the secretary of state. As a sequel to this move, Chairman John W. BreidenthaL of the fusión committee has filed mandamus proceedings in the supreme court to compel the secretary of state to place Mr. Watson's name on the ticket, notwithstanding the protest of Mr. Watson. The case will be heard Wedneeday. The decisión of the supreme court in the matter is awaited with great interest. Generáis on Bryan's Track. 7oido, Ohio, Oct. 21.- The special trein bearing the ftve generalB passed tbrough Toledo at 6 o'clock this mornIng over the Lake Shore road. The party left Cleveland at midnlght after a hard day's work, and when Toledo was reached they did not feel like holding a meeting before breakfast, consequently there was no demonstration at the depot. The train left at 6:30 for Adrisn, Mich., where a meeting waa addressed at 7:30.
