Friends and neighbors gave Mrs. Wm Schaible a pleasant viait on Sunday, in remembrance of her birthday. Robert Lamming is suffering from hisleg again. He had more bono removed last week and is improving. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Kingsley drove to Chelsea Saturday, roturning Sunday. Mr. Kingsley went to Ann Arbor in the mean time. Mr. and Mrs. Emery carne here from Lansing on their bicycles last Friday and visited Dr. and Mrs. Iddings until Monday. Tho ladies are sisters. # Ypsilanti Sentinel. Mrs. F. W. Monroe, of Fort Wayne, Ind.. is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. II. Miller. Edwin F. Willits, formerly principal of the Normal school, died at Washington on Saturday. Mrs. R. C. Martin and Miss Maud Martin have return ad from a two weeks visit at Hillsdale. Mrs. King, mothor of Miss Julia King, of the Normal school, who rccently broke a hip bone by a bad fall, Iie3 in a critical condition. Dr. C liarles VV. Ryan has been appointed assistant in Otology and Ophthalmology in the homeopathie department of the University of Michigan. The Ypsilantian. Miss Morrison Jenkins, of Portland, spent Saturday in this city. Miss Lillie Clingo, of St. Clair, has been visiting Mrs. Eli Robtoi and other friends the past week. Mrs. J. B. Kinnie returned Monday from a trip to Moscow and Jonesville'. Miss Clara L. Clark is stopping for a day or two with Ypsilaqti friends on her way back to Oihkosh. The greatest ball game of the season will come off Friday, and last all day ; positions are being assigned this Wednesday, and it will be a battle royal. Whitaker, of Ann Arbor, wh has been the guest of her son Charles for some weeks, returned home last Tues'iay. Miss P. (Jora Noyes was at home to the mcmbcrs of the K. A. Club Monday evening. A good time was onjoved by all. DliXTER laEADER. Married, ou Tuesday, Oct. 27th, al the Oüxter Baptist parsonage, by Kev. H. A. McConnoll, Mr. Charles Turk, ol Hovvell and Miss Minnie Sackett uf Dexter. Miss Carrie Irwln was pleasantly surprised last Tursday ei'ening by a nurnber of her schoolmatei and friends, in honor of her 16th birthdav. Kefreshments were served and the cvening passed pleasantly with music and games. Arthur Arnold, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Ai-nold, died at their home, Tuesday, Oot. 27th, of spinal disease, after a long and painful 111- ness. The funeral will be held at the house at .'! o'clock this afternoon. The burial will take place in Forcst Lawn Cemetery. Ypsilantt Oomjikucial. Mrp. Burt, of Detroit, is visiting Prof. and Mrs. Daniel Putnam. .Mis. C. W. Mansfield is visiting ia Grand Rapids, where the family resided a few years ago. Emma Engel, 106 River-st., was married yosterday to George Hayes, a hotel keeper of Brooklyn, Mich. S. J. Vail returned yesterday from Detroit, wheve he has been under treatment since April. IIo is unable to walk, and apparently suffers from paralysis. Mrs. Cheever is very ill at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fannie Cheever Burton, and the latter is obliged to suspend her work at the gymnasium.
