Snubbed The King
Rome, Nov. 2. - Now that the fetes in honor of the marriage of the crown prlnce oí Italy to the Princess Helene of Montenegro are over, the extraordinary behavior of the Roman clergy connected with the ceremony is widely criticised. The clergy are pald by the state, yet, it appears, in splte of previous dispatches from Rome to the contrary, that when King Humbert and Queen Margaret entered the Church of Santa Maria Degli Angeli, where the ceremony was performed, they found that no preparatlons for their reception had been made, and they had to alt in the body of the church. Mgr. Piszilli, who offlciated, upon being asked to explain, sai-d that the details wére arranged by the pope, "who considered their majesties to be no part of the ceremonial."
