Appleton, Wis., Oct. 31. - The towns visited by William J. Bryan in the badger state to-day were liberally bedecked with yellow. There were a large number of white ribbons worn by hearers. but the majority oí the people addressed by him at the flrst few stops this morning did not hesitate to show their preierence for the yellow metal. The special train bearing the Bryan party left Chicago an hour late laat night. AboaRi'the train, besides the regular party, were Secretary Walsh or tne natlonal committee, Judge Clinton Babbitt. J. E. MaJone and George W. Hilton. At Green Bay W. C. Silverthorn, the democratie nominee for governor; ex-Governor George W. Peck, T. B. Lamoreaux, Senator R. McGehan, J. A. Knipers, John Smith, John Ruel and B. V. Wade Hewitt got aboard and acted as an eacort for the nominee. During the day Mr. Bryan spoke at Green Bay, Depree, Kaukauna, Appleton, Neenah, Menasha, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, Juneua, Watertown, Jefferson, Fort Atkinson, Milton Junction, Janesville, and this evenhe made an address at Madison.
