Insult To Whom?

The following appeard in last Friday 's Lansing Journal: "Hon. A. J. Sawyer, of Ann Arbor, v.iio is accused of entertaining an araDition to be Speaker of the House of Representatives, is at tha Hotel Downey. He did not speak so encouragingly of his prospecta for the Speakership as Representativo Gordon does. He stated that he had ne pet measures to champio, but that he would champion the pcople'ti interest. ïhe Univcrsity, so far as he knevv, would notseek any special favors at the hands of the Iegislature. "Reuben Kempf, who represented the University city in the Iegislature two years ago, said at the Hudson House this noon that it was an insult to allude to Savvyer as Pingree'3 man." The Register is authoritatively in formod that Mr. Kempf had no authority vvhateyer fer speaking of Mr Sawyer's attitude, if ho spoke as the Journal saya he did.
