Harvard is to teach the Ruseian language. Five new buildings are to be eiectoil at the Univw.sity of Virginia, to replace, the ones burned. A chair of homeopathy has been established in the medical departnient of the Missouri state university. A negro girls' industrial school is to be established at Birmingham, Ala., foy a wealthy Boston woman. The great Methodist school, the Southwestern university, Georgetown, Texas, is putting tip a $50,000 ncw building. Harvard is to establish a department of pathology. A large sum has been specially donated for this very useful purpose. Rev. Dr. Curry, Peabody and Slater Funds' agent in ithe south, is moving to have Alabama townships levy special tax for more and better schools to reach the masses. So much good and enjoyment resulted from the use of school yards in Philadelphia as play groimds during the past summer, that it has been decided to devote them tothat purpose throughout the year. They will be open to the öhildren after school hours during fair weather. In districts where school yards are not available, it Is proposed to secure vacant Iota. The new educational paper that is to Ibe published under the auspices of the Educational club, is to be called The Teacher, and it is expeoted that the first number will appear about the 15th of next monbh. It is to contain articles by experts on the methods of teacnug langnage, geography, aritkmotic, etc.; contributions to the theory of educatlon, and special articles upon the history of education in Philadelphia.
