Jeremiah Coyle of Honesville, Pa., had an encounter with a large' blacksnake on the mountain above Frog Hollow recently. He was out for chestnuts, and started to clirab a tree laden with tempting looking burrs. Half way up he was startled by seeing the snake not three feet away, swinging to and fro from a slender branch, and evldently preparing to spring. Coyle braced himself in a noten of the tree, and hurled the hatchet he carried at the swinging repule witli deadly accuracy, severing the head from the writhing body.
