Springfleld, III., Dec. 12.- The corn erop of 1896, as reported to the state board of agriculture, was the largest ever raised in the stíte with a singl xception- in 1879, when the total yield f the state was 305,500,000 bushels. The average yield per acre was the argest in the hlstory of tie state, forty. .wo bushels. Tüo average price through the state is 18 cents pr bushel.
