Sleighing good and everybody taking advantage of it, bnt it spoiled the skating on the Lake. Mrs. Frank Munger bas been dangerou= ; ill for the past 2 weeks. But Dr. Siruth says now she will pull through. Miohael Welsh met witha painful accident while skinniDg a rabbit. The knife alipped cutting an arterie in the wrist and came near bleeding to death before the doctor could stop the blood. On Monday last the uitizons turned out enmasse with an engine and woodsawing machine and cut up 50 curds of wood for Rev. W. W. Hicks who says this cold snap makes it all the more appreciated. One of the happiest events of the season took place at the residence of Prof. and Mrs. F. M. Lumbards on the 17th when their daughter Lillian and John Weismyer and their daughter Francés and Alfred DeWolf were united inmarriage by the Rev. H. W. Hicks. Sixty of their friends and neighbors were present and right royally entertained. Another veteran of the Mexican War has gone to join his comrades in the great unknown. William Sheffer, of this place, anold pioneer, while visiting his daughter, Mrs. Haefley, of Detroit, was taken sick and was under the doctor's care for the past three months, but gradually declined until relieved by dea'th on Dec. 15th at Detroit. His remains were brought to this place for burial. The Re,v. H.W. Hicks officiating at one of the largest funerala that ever occurred at this place. Deceased was 75 years old and an old Mexican pensioner. He has been identified with all the improvoments around this place for the past. 4") years and no man had more friends or was more highly respected than unele Billy, as he was familiarly called. Deceased had a family of 8 children. His wife and six of the children survive hitn. Deceased was honest and upright in all his doing.s. He was generous to a fault and died a professing and consistent Christian. DELHI iMILLS. Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Plummer, a son on Dec. 20th. Mrs. H. Babcock's sister and daughter of Detroit, were witti her durmg holidays. Mr. E. Marsh, wife and son Josie, spent their Christmas with their daughter, Mrs. Hnddy in Toledo. Mr. Matt. Orr, of Wayne, spent Christmas with Mr. C. Bennet of Webster and A. C. Turner, of Delhi. Mr. Fred Strehle nas had to have the second ainputation of the fineer that was shot off accidentally, Dec. 21st. The last time it was uDJointed from his hand. Mr. John Strehle of Cbelsea, with his family, visited his brother Fred, Saturday, and Will Kauffman aDd sister and Mr. Fred L,utz and son from Freedom visited them on Sunday. Mrs. Karaker of Dexter carne to Delhi last Thursday She bought her ticket for Delhi on the 10:55 train but the brakeman didn't cali the station although the train stopped, and she was carried to Ann Arbor, wnere she had to stay untill 5.55 P M. This thing has happened several times, within a few months. or things similar. By and by they will play it on some one that wiil report them, then they may wish they hadn't. S.llKH CUibACMB. Otis Walker has been worse for the ast few days. John Munn and Huson Alsbro were appointed appraisers and commissioiiers of Daniel íi . Smith deceased. Mrs. Will Thayer, of Alpena, incnds to spend the holidays with her relativos in Salem. RBDDBK. The School in this place elosed on fhursday for a vacation of two weeks. The teacher and acholara fixed up a ■ery nice Christmas tree. It was decorated very nicely and loaded with preeuts for all the children. The iterary exercises consisting of singing, speakng and tableaux were rendersd verv vl'11.
