Yonkers, N. Y., Dec. 31.- Work will be resumed in the carpet milis of Alexander Smith & Sons soon fter the flret of the year. The milis have been sbut down for two montha. Only a tew looms will be started at first, but gradually all will be at work. The mili employés 7,000 persvins and has a pay roll of $60,000 a week when working full Urne.
