The British Isles comprise .about 50C tslands, of which one-half are inhabited. ReligiĆ³n - Church of England (Episcopal), about 14,000,000; Church of Scotland (Presbyterian), about 1,400,000; Roman Catholics, about i ,000, 000; Dissenters, 6,000,000; Jews, 60,000. Government--Hereditary limited Monarchy. Exeeutive, the Sovereign. ' Legislative, the Sovereign, the House of Lords, composfid of four royal princes, two archblshops, twenty-two dukes, nineteen marquises, 114 earls, twenty-eight viscounts, twenty-fo'.ir bishops, 28S barons, sixteen Scottish representative perrs, and twenty-eight Irish representativo peers; one of the formei and two of the latter are peers af England. Total, 540. And astly, the house of comme iis, composed of 670 menjbers, elected every parliament--465 for England, thirty for Wales, seventy-two ior Scotland, and 103 for Ireland.
