Mr. Dow and wife aro novv studying in Paris. Librarían Davis will spond the sumíner at some resort on the Atlantic coast. Prof. Adams and family sail fot Europe June 29. They will spend the year there. Mr. Meader and wife go to Europe thissummer. They will remainabroad for two years of study. Prof. Bradley M. Thompson will go to London, England, in August to study the workings of the English courts. Dr. Hench will study the methods of teaching language in the Germán Schools this summer. He leaves Ann Arbor June 10. The Oratorical association is planning íor a froshman debating contest to be held next fall. lts object is to bring out new debaters. Prof. Henry C. Adams was in St. Louis last week conferring with several rail road magnates on mattors relating to the interstate commerce laws. The Junior Engineers leavc for Northern Michigan on May 29. They will spend the monttiof June in Surveying amongthe hillsof Leelenaw county. Mrs. Stanley and Miss Stanley will not return from Germany when the Professor does next fall but will remain a number of years that Miss Stanley may study music at Berlin. The Alpha Nu will carry out a com" mencment program at its last entertainment this year and some of its prominent members will be graduateel and receive Alpha Nu diplomas. Yesterday Mr. Ottmar Eberbach went to Detroit and gave bonds for the appearance of Gien A. Trowbridge in court when wanted and the young ïiuin was given his Hberty. He camc home yesterüay afternoon. Professor Walter is entertaining M. Viennot, assistant librarían of the National Library of FYance. As soon as college closes they will go to Yellow Stone Park and then to Europo where Professor Walter will spend most of his vacation. Prof. J. O. Reed, who is now in Germany on leave of absence will return next fall to resume his work in the U. of M. His work whilo abroad has been in studying the properties of the Jena glass. Extensive investigations have been made by him and the glass manufacturers have borne a great part of the expense, as they have considered his work valuable to them. As soon as oxaminations are over Professor Russell will leave for the Cascade Mountains where he will take up his old work on the United States (ieological Survey. This summer he will study the coal mines of the Cascade región. Last year he spent his vacation in traveling over the glaciers of Mount Ranier and in studying the artesian wells of eastern Washington. The Professor has spenfc three summers in Alaska, going far up the Yukon and Porcupine rivers and penetrating country that scientific men had not reached before. Only a few of the soniors havo as yct secured positions for next year. The State High School Athletic meet will be held in Ann Arbor this year. As usual tho Oracle board will offer prizes this year for stories and poems. Ihere will be a song service at the Unitarian eburch next Sunday evening. ïhere will b9 139 literary graduates this year, of these 58 are A. B. sludents. K.N. Forbes, dent '98, has loft for Randolph, N. Y., where he wili work in a dentist's office during thp summcr. ''Paul 's Second Missionary Journey" will be the subject at the English Lutheran church on next Sunday evening and it will be finely illustratod with steroopticon viöws. The ladies aid society of Trinity Lutheran church will give a good supper at the church parlors on Friday evening of this week from (i to 8 o'clock for 10 cents. Try it. When the bill for the removal of the Homeopathie Department to Detroit carne up in the senate at Lansing yesterday, oten: votes were recorded in favor and ñfteen against the bill. Just as we go to press'we learn that Judge Kinne has decided to admit Larkins, Jones and' Lyon, accused of the Richards murder, to bail. ■ The amount was flxed at $5,000 each. Mr. and Mrs. Elijan L. Strong, of Superior township, have made application and will adopt a girl from the State Public School at Coldwater, Mich. This family havo already taken and reared two girls from the State Re'orm School at Adrián. Mr. and Mrs. Strongi have two littlo children of their own, a boy and a girl, aged 13 and 10 respectively. The second meeting of Wie Ann Arbor High School Oratorical Association was held Wednesday afternoon, and ;he following ofïicers were elected : r"res., Guy Bates; V. Pres., Lillian Hillman; Sec'y, Mr. Knapp; Treas., Allen Broomhall. A vote of thanks vas extended to Prof. Trueblood, of ;he Uniersity, and to Mr. Pettingil or the kind and efficiënt aid ronderod n helping the students to form thair association.
