Many thousand dollars damag was done to buildings and their con tents at Hollister. No casualties oc curred though many narrow escape are reported. Every brick building in town ha.s suiïered, and in the cour house the walls and ceiling have los most of their plastering and a fire wal of the adjoining buildings. At üilroy numerous chiinneys were toppled over walls cracked, every plate glass store windoiv shattered and a general wreckage of bottlea and shelfware in honses and stores, l'eople i-uslied out of tbeir homes in terror. An un usual .scène of petty destruction is presented in nearly every house and store in the town. Other points report damage but in lesser degree.
