It has been the custoin for the head of the state ticket in Ohio to name the ehairinan of tho state executive coinmittee and thus üov. Busbnell desired to re-elect the present chairman. Chas. L. Kurtz, but Senator Jlanna wanted Maj. Chas. W. Dick, secretary of the nalional Kepnblican eoramittee, to be ehainnan nnd it was on this that the came up. Gov. Bushnell wassupported by the Foraker followers, but in the ïnoetino-s of the delegates by congressioual distrlcts Mr. Hanna won, more than two lo ono. With this vietory assured it was decided topostpone the fonnality of naiaing the ohairman two weeks, but .Mui. Dick is sure to receive Uic honor. Crouse, chairman of the state central committee, introduced Gen. Chas. II. Grosvenor as temporary ehairman of the convention, and after a speech by Mr. ürosvenor, tlie new state central committee and the committee on reso lutions wort; named and adjournmen was taken for the day. The second day's work was finishec up in eomparatively short order. The temporary offleers, Mr. Grosvenor as ehairman. and John R. Malloy secre tary, we re made permanent. The platform adopted is in substance as follows: The Republicana of Ohio rejoice in the magnificent victory of last year, whereby the people of the United States overwheliningly decided in favor of an honest dollar and a chance to carn it, and elected as President that splendid son of Ohio, Wm. McKinley. Wc extend our sympathy to the patriots of Cuba in their efforts to achieve freedom, and we hope that the day of their deliverance is near at hand. We beheve that the admiuistration in negotiating the treaty for the annexation of Ilawaii has acted wisely. We denounce the violation of the civil service act by President Cleveland, and demand such revocation of orders or modification of the law as will aenomnlish its manifest purpose. We oommend reforma inaugurated in the pension adininistration; favor a national board of arbitration for the settlement such differences as may arise between eorporations engaged in interstate commerce and their employés, and demand for the wool-growers of Ohio such ampie proteotion for vvool as shall speedily inerease American flocks sufficiently to supply all American needs. The thanks of the people of this state are due to Senators Foraker and Hanna for tlieir splendid efforts during the present session of eongress, and, appreciating- his services to the party and to the people, and his eminent and proven fitness for the position, we ïndorse the candidacy of Hon. Marcus A. Hanna for U. S. senator to suceeed himself. The mention of Senator Hanna's name was greeted with loud demonstrations and he was called for. He thanked the convention for this expression of confidence and pledged himself toco-operate with the Standard bearer for Republican success in Ohio. He discussed the pending tariff bill at length and paid a high tribute to President McKinley"s efforts to bring about prosperity and the best possible conditions for the country. Nominations were then made as follows: (Jovernor, Asa S. JJushnell; licutenant-governor, A. W. Jones; supreme judge, Jacob F. Burkett; attorney-general, Frank Monnett; state treasurer, Samuel Campbell; school commissioner, Lewis D. Bonebrake; member board of public works, Chas. A. Goddard. Immediately after the adjournment of the convention the new state central committee organized with Harry M. Daugherty as chaii-mau, and Peter Durr as st'cretary.
