The hollowness of the skeptic's praise of death on the ground, for instance, on which such praise is expressed in the famous poem "Thanatopsls," was admirably exposed once by a remark of the French wit, Eugene Labiche. Lablche and Emmanuel Arago were converslng about the hereafter, when Arago said: "After all, why fear death? Is it not forgetfulness, rest, tranquillity?" "Oh, no doubt," sald Labiche, "but are you sure you'U be able to enjoy them?"
