An inquest was held recently coneerning the death of George Wood.aged 32 years, lately residing at North Kensington, England. The evidence showed that about six weeks previou3 the deceased complained oí a nail In his boot having punctured his foot. Afterward the toe began to swell, and he complained of hoarseness. Early one morning he had a sudden spasm and his jaw became locked. He was removed to the inflrmary, where he died the next day. Dr. H. P. Potter said, when admitted the deceased back was arched; he had spasms of the limbs; he wa3 unable to take food, his jaws being locked; and there was marked lockjaw. There was a small puncture in the foot, which was swollen. Death was due to asphyxia, following tetanus, the result of a punctured wound in the foot, caused by a nail in the boot.
