Moscs Walker, a bachelor, who lived twö miles west of Ionia, opposite the state house of correetion, was shot and iastantly killed by Wesley Bennett, a farm hand on an adjoining farm. Bennett had been keeping company with Lydia Vivían, Walker's niece, and they had just returned irom tho eitj. The woman jumpeJ out of the buggy just as Walker carne out into the road. He ordered Bennett away, having proviously objected to his presence, and Is alleg-ed that he threw a pieoe of briek at the horse. Beunett refused to g-o and drcw a revolver from which he fired three shots at Walker, all of which took effect, the third striking the heart, Bennett skipped home and was chang-ing horses, apparently for flight, when the sheriff arrested him.
