Soldiers' Picnic
About 200 old soldiers met at the home of S. G. Wheelcr near the village of Salem last Saturday for their annual licnie. There wero exuetly fifty-one erterans present, the twentieth inantry and lifth cavalry having the argest representation, eleven men rom tho formor and nine from the attcr being present. Two loadd conaining. twenty-hvo soldiers and several ladies drove from this city. At noon a fiue dinner was served and this was followed by a brief and well rendered program. George S. Wheeler, Capt. W. K Childs, Rev. W. M. Colïin and Captain C. P. Allen rave addresses. Harvey Paekard extended the assoc-iation an invitatiun to hold its next annual picnic at uü home two miles south of Salem and the invitation was accepted .
