A class rush at the University of California, September first, resulted in serious injuries to Benjamin Kurtz. An examination shovved that a piece of flesh had been torn from one nostril and the upper lip hung only by a shred. Four teeth had been knocked out of the lower jaw and the bone was broken out with them. Both the upper and lower jaws were smashed and the flesh of the whole face crushed and Meeding. There were two other serious casualties Frank Marshall, freshman, had his right leg broken just above the ankle. Colon, another freshman, came out of the combat with a broken leg.
